Are we making a huge mistake!?

Most of the people who come over immediately decry our plan to renovate the kitchen because the current one is so 'cute!' and 'retro!' and 'how can you get rid of that stove?'. I didn't really put much stock in their claims until I saw this on apartmenttherapy.com

THESE PEOPLE HAVE OUR STOVE! (except ours is cooler, because the temperature thingy on the top lights up, and there is a toggle switch for the warming oven AND there are instructions on how hot and long to cook everything you could possibly want on the inside of the door).

Maybe we are making a mistake?

  1. The joys of making a decision! I love your old stove too and a funky retro kitchen would be unique. BUT there are other things to consider. Can you get parts for the old stove if it should break? Can you cook and bake with it or is it too limiting in terms of size? What about all those apple pies you intend to bake? Using apartment sized appliances is a good idea if space is short supply. Enjoy the process and the back and forth. It is good to look at all the options and when you settle on something, you know you have done your homework. Which makes sense since you are teachers. :)

  2. My thoughts are....if you can bake pie in it...keep the oven!!! But then...you could probably bake pies in any oven, so then I can't help you;) -Kristy

  3. You are making a mistake. I heard your sister-in-law is stylish and creative. You should do what she tells you to.
